Testimonials

Slootjes / Alexandra Holidays
From May-24, 2010 Until May-28, 2010
The appartement was big enough for us (4 adults). It was clean, the location was very good and the security its good.

Thanks,

Mr Luc Mintjens / Aureliano
From May-06, 2010 Until May-13, 2010
We can recommend this apartment. The staff Olivia and Barbara are very friendly. We came by car and they arranged for us a garage. There was also bread and some snacks when we arrived. The rooms are clean and there is enough space. Take bus 492 in front of the apartment and you are within 10 minutes in the centre of Rome. There are also some good restaurants near to the apartment. We can recommend il pulcino ballerino.

We enjoyed our stay in the apartment very much. Nice location in a non-touristic area of Rome, close to the bus-stop, supermarkets, bars and several nice places to eat.

Mr Ekkel / Aureliano
From Sep-17, 2009 Until Sep-21, 2009
Very much appreciate the hospitality from Barbara. For example: due to late arrival she managed to prepare some groceries which was perfect!

AIRPORTS

CIAMPINO AIRPORT

Ciampino airport used to be a military airport, but it was later developed into a commercial airport to cope with the growing number of flights in and out of the Roman capital. Today it is the busiest airport in Rome, mostly servicing the budget airlines like Easyjet and Ryan Air. It has good facilities including a VIP and business lounge, shops, cafes and restaurants and four information desks.

Ciampino is located just 15kms South- East from the city centre, on the Via Appia Nuova.

Getting to Rome from Ciampino Airport:

By Car: Take the Via Appia Nuova northward into downtown Rome.

By Taxi: Taxis are available from the terminal exit. Make sure you take the official, government approved taxis which are white and have an illuminated "Taxi" sign on the roof. Thanks to Roman Authorities, the fare into Central Rome has been standardised at a flat rate of 30 euros from this airport to anywhere in Central Rome. This fare includes other passengers and all baggage so don't be fooled into being charged any "extras" by the driver. Always ask for a receipt and report any driver with their ID card number and license plate if you have any difficulties. Always count out lod the money you give them when you reach your destination.

By Bus: Terravision buses run every 15 minutes from Ciampino airport to the Stazione Termini station in the centre of Rome. The journey takes about 40 minutes, and departures are co-ordinated to flight arrival times. The buses are air conditioned,  comfortable are not overcrowded, unlike the public buses that ferry passengers to the metro. You can book online which is a good idea during the peak summer season to avoid queues. Tickets are 8 euros one way and 14 euros return.

By Train: The closest Metro station to Ciampino airport is Anagnina, and you will need to take a public bus service to get there. It is a cheaper option to get to the city centre (1 euro on the bus plus 1 euro for 75 minutes travel once on the metro system), but not the quickest or the most comfortable. If you can afford it, we recommend taking the air conditioned Terravision bus (see above).

FIUMICINO (Leonardo Da Vinci) AIRPORT

The official name for Fiumicino Airport is Leonardo Da Vinci. Its the largest of Italy's airports and services most of the major airlines that operate intercontinental and European flights in to Rome, including Alitalia. It's located 32 Kms from the city centre, near the sea.

Facilities at this Rome airport are excellent, especially for disabled passengers who might have some difficulty negotiating their way around the three terminals.  There are the usual shopping and food outlets, a chapel and business centre. There are information desks in all three terminals, but also touch-screen information kiosks available.

Getting to Rome from Fiumicino Airport

By Car: The airport operates a free shuttle service between each terminal to the long term carparks. Journey time to central Rome is around 45 minutes and  clearly signposted.

By Taxi: There are Taxi ranks at each terminal exit. Make sure you take the official, government approved taxis which are white with an illuminated "Taxi" sign on the roof. Roman Authorities have now (thankfully)  standardised a flat rate of 40 euros from this airport to anywhere in Central Rome. This fare includes other passengers and all baggage so don't don't allow yourself to be talked into paying anything on top of this flat rate. Always ask for a receipt and report any driver with their ID card number and license plate if you have any difficulties. Always count out loud the money you give them when you reach your destination, to avoid being short changed.

By Bus: Cotral

By Train: Take the Leonardo Express, a direct train service to to Rome's main railway station, Stazione Termini. Follow the signs from the main Arrivals area. The service runs every 30 minutes, between 6:30am and 11:30pm.
