The Hidden Jewels of Rome, Italy

Rome is probably one of the most famous cities in the world.  It is certainly well known in Italy, and it makes sense that thousands of visitors flock to visit it every year.  Many of those visitors do not know what to expect during their visit, and they are often pleasantly surprised.  That being said you want to be sure that you find some of the hidden jewels that Rome, Italy has to discover during your stay.

One of the first things that visitors notice when they enter the city is that it is picturesque and beautiful.  The Roman architecture is magnificent and the streets are still that quaint cobblestone that was originally laid out.  However, you need to realize that some of this city's beauty is also what creates a challenge.  Those beautiful cobblestone streets can make it difficult to get around, especially for those who might have small children in a stroller.  Your clothing choices are also something that you want to think about.  Generally Italian's tend to dress up more than other cultures so you will want to keep that in mind while you are packing.  Be sure that you check out the dress codes of any important landmarks that you would like to visit.  That being said, with a bit of planning you will be in for a wonderful vacation.

Most visitors like to visit Rome during the spring and fall as the weather of these seasons is really quite beautiful.  Additionally, the crowds at some of the more popular tourist spots are not as big during these seasons.  You will also want to steer clear of visiting during August.  Generally this is considered and off season time and many tourist locations are closed.

Of course Rome is known for its many landmarks, but there are lesser known sights for you to see.  One place that is great for families is the Castel Sant'Angelo.  To get there you must cross a bridge, but once you get across you will have a wonderful time exploring the different twists and turns in the castle.  Additionally there is a small snack bar which is perfect for picking up that mid afternoon snack to get you through until supper time.

Rome cinema: For cinema buffs you will want to schedule a visit to the Trevi Fountain.  The truth is that Italy seemed to captivate the cinema, especially in the 1950's.  The Trevi Fountain was featured in the film "Three Coins in a Fountain" and it is definitely worth a visit.  Additionally, Federico Fellini created many pictures for the cinema that are still thought of today. Of course no one could forget the 1953 Audrey Hepburn classic "Roman Holiday."  This fine piece of cinema was also filmed in Rome and if you want to see one of its locations you will want to check out "the Mouth of Truth" or "La Bocca della Verit."

When booking your holiday Apartment in Rome you may want to choose one that is located near some of these cinematic jewels.  If you do you will be in for a picture perfect vacation getaway.
