What Types of Music can You Expect to Hear When in Rome?

Are you planning to vacation in ancient Rome? If so, you will be thrilled to see the various architectural designs that have stood for thousands of years, which allows you to get a snapshot of the past. Of course, Rome is not just about "old" it is also a very modern city of close to three million residents. It is one of the most toured places in the world because it has so much history and is one of the oldest cities on earth.

Of course, when in Rome, you want your trip to have as much comforts as possible, which is why it makes sense to rent a holiday apartment Rome rather than a hotel. Completely furnished and adorable apartments with fully functional kitchens make your trip to Rome complete.

Roman music

Many people do not realize how important of an area Rome is when it comes to music. In fact, Rome has a very lively and active music scene with many very beautifully architecture concert halls such as Parco della Musica, which one of the largest venues in the world. Many people assume Rome is only about historical sites, which is true, but there a large music scene that many are surprised to see when they enter the world of Rome.

Did you know that Rome has an opera house called Teatro dell'Opera di Roma? Many people find this surprising but this opera hall was built in the late 1800's and therefore, if you love opera, you will be able to not just go to the opera, but also have the chance to sit in a building that has a lot of historical significance.

When it comes to how Rome affected the history of music, you have to back to the 16th century as well as the 17th because the Roman School at the time had composers that composed music that was notably church or religious music. This spanned into the early Baroque era and Renaissance period, and what it is most interesting is that the composers of that day had ties to the Vatican as well as the papal chapel because they worked in many of the churches of the day.

Modern Day Music of Rome

You must remember that Rome is part of Italy and of course, Italians are very much musical oriented and therefore pride themselves on their contributions to the world of music. Popular music concerts and events are typically held at the Auditorium Music Hall, which is very modern and somewhat futuristic with a highly advanced sound system making the concerts held there a true treat.

If you like the night scene, you will love the Abbey Theatre Irish Pub, which is features live music and even an open mic, if you are brave. The club features Irish music, which is a treat for many that would not expect to find such a pub in Rome. They serve food, spirits, and a place to just see what the locals see and do.

In addition, you will find live music venues is in Testaccio, which has a number of pubs, nightclubs, and live music from local bands. When heading to the nightclubs, you should know that people that live in Rome typically dress casually, but still dress in trendy casual attire. Moreover, many of Rome's clubs tend to be found near Monte Testaccio with many small and quaint clubs such as reggae music, hip-hop, and house music.

If you live jazz music you will find live jazz at Alexanderplatz, which is actually near the Vatican. The big jazz artists typically play here, so you will definitely want to make your way here if jazz is something you are fond of and hearing it live is a welcomed event.

Finally, when you are in Rome, you will hear some of the best music the city has to offer, but after you have been out on the town, coming back to your vacation apartment is much cozier than a hotel room. Therefore, book your apartment rental well in advance of your arrival.
